Big Clock

It was the early 60s.  Many working men still wore cloth caps, like the man passing John Temples in the background.

In the foreground, Eddie McMillen of Derrybeg Drive is taking his spaniel for a walk.

On the roof of his new Mini, Jim Clarke is advertising his new Advanced School of Motoring.  It was his wife Bea who taught your editor to drive in this vehicle and about this time.  Indeed, that might have been me then, threatening the safety of all in Margaret Square!

The Big Clock is showing slightly different times on its different faces – as it often did.

But that’s OK.

Time passed slower then.

There’s O’Brien’s Chemists in the background too.

Were they ‘the steps to Health’ ?
