Belvoir Players tonight

There are just three performances left in this year’s Drama Festival. Tonight it is the turn of the Belvoir Players, Belfast with ‘Unravelling the Ribbon’. Despite the fact that it tells of the effects of cancer on a family, we are promised a funny and entertaining play, written by Mary Kelly and Maureen White.

Belvoir, formed in 1968 is one of the most accomplished teams on the circuit. They have performed in the British All-Winners Finals in Wales (1983) and they represented N Ireland in the British One-Act Finals both in 1986 and 1994. They have also performed in Florida, USA. Their version of Frank McGuinness’s ‘Someone who’ll watch Over Me’ won the Ulster (Full-Length) Play Finals and also in the present decade they went on to win the British Full-Length Play Finals.

Also tonight, at the Fringe Festival – in the Arts Centre after the adjudication, I am reliably informed there is a hilarious sketch, performed in drag by Sean Markey – definitely NOT to be missed.

See you there!
