I still simmer at the outrageous car-parking charges at Buttercrane and the Quays and would urge Newry people – and our visitors – to frequent the traditional shopping centre of the town, that is, the Hill Street area.
I admit that since the closure of Pat McCartan’s Additions, we have been lacking a decent, quality Crafts and Gift Shop in our Town Centre.
I am therefore delighted to welcome the all-new LIMEHOUSE which offers just that. The proprietor is a local man from the Forest Hills area. His shop, The Limehouse – located between Carlins and the Good Food Butchers and across from J V Kelly’s – is well-appointed, bright, attractive and richly stocked with all the little extras for the home and the person.
I have a few weddings coming up and I know now where I shall be purchasing my wedding gifts.
Free parking is close – e.g. Downshire Court, North Street, Kilmorey Street – and the Middle Bank car park, 100m away offers hours of parking for only pence. Hill Street itself is just 10p-20p and the Water Street car park is similar.
There are few enough Newry shop proprietors and I urge all Newry Journal readers – whether visiting (it is that season) or resident, to give THE LIMEHOUSE a call.
