Seán McKevitt
Mariea, I believe John to have been my grandfather. He later resided at 28 Linenhall Square (near to Alfred Fulton). If a link between John and Catherine (5,Castle Street?)can be proven then we are likely to be related. Seán

Re Downshire Court;
John I dont remember a school but everyone who lived in High Street ,Market Street North Street used the entry there to go to the Cathedral. My Uncle Bobby his wife Mary and daughter Margaret(Young) lived there. Austy Spenser used to tie up the pony and trap an the top and after mass would give some of the kids a spin

Hello Mariea - As you are aware John and James are shown as sons of William and Catherine in the 1911 Census.
Newry's Roll of Honour (1915) shows a John (R.I.R.) and a James (R.I.F.) Mc Kevitt as residing at 5 Castle Street.
Are they the above mentioned sons and do you know anymore about them?

I have been looking at the photo of Abbey Seniors 1955 and I can add a lot more names to the list. I met up with Tony Connolly last week and we are interested in making contact with as many as possible from that group. We would like to hear where they are now and how their lives panned out in the meantime. Michael Carlin

Hi everyone,
I was wondering does anyone know any of the history of the 'Monkshill' area of Newry. Obviously the name would suggest that there was a monastery or something to that effect up there at some stage in the past but it would be nice to hear any history about that part of the town.
Cheers
