hi john, just to let you know, through your newryjournal i recently got in contact with gerry hobden with whom i grew up,along with his brother john,in cecil st in the 1950s.both families moved from the VALLEY in the early 60s and we lost touch as both of us then left newry in the late 60s to move to england.a few weeks ago he contacted me and would you believe,we were both going on holiday to Cyprus at the end on jan.we met up for 2nights in Paphos and we had a ball, remembering old times in the Valley and trying to remember who lived there when we did.we took some photos and had a ball,,after 40plus years, and we hope to meet up in Warrington in march before they go to spain with friends.we are now both retired,,,,men of leisure.....it was great to see him after almost 50years,,,and as i said earlier....all thanks to you. |

Hi to all in Newry! I am searching some family history on my mother's side, she was Eilish McCourt her mother was Christine Hogan Born Newry 1886. One of her sisters married a Cunningham and I think one of their daughters married Peter Woods the Milkman. They had two daughters Magella and Rosella. |

I am looking for a Mary Murnin who lived at 82 Hilltown Rd, County Down, Cabra-newry Nowth Ireland. We corresponded in the late 1960's and early 1970's. I am planning a trip to Ireland and would love to find my old pen pal. I still have some of the letters. Can anyone help me? She would be about 52 years young and probably has a different last name now. My name then was Joanne Reading. |
