Re the Mulligan entry. Dara can you give me any info as I might be able to help you in this
Dara Gorman (Nee Mulligan)
I stumbled across this site whilst trying to track down my Grand-Father's address prior to him leaving for America in 1912 and would you believe it; there he is living in number 6 Cecil St!
His name was Thomas Mulligan and in 1912 he was aged 25.
I have news paper cuttings from his death in 1972, and following several different leads have been able to place him in my family history. I would appreciate any feed back from anyone who recalls him at any period in his lifetime.

HI Pat, the first time I went back to Newry with my Wife,
We were walking along Edward St from the Station when we met your mom who Immediately
linked arms with us an walked bach to Cecil St with us.
I Knew Your Brother Maurice,
They used to come over from Glasgow every year.
Are you older or younger than him?
I was taken to Birmingham when I was 8 years old.
My Aunt Winnie and my Grandmother Devine Brought me up during my early years, and Newry will always have a place in my heart.
Hope to visit there again soon.

To; Edward Coonagh.
Edward, you are right, my mother's name was Josphine (Josie) and I believe in the very early days in Cecil Street, your aunt Winnie and Josie were the best of friends. I have an old photo graph of them both with Winnie having a dust bin lid on her head tied up in a bow as a hat outside your door.
My friends were Pat Mc Cluskey (Wilsons Row), Grants, "The Ferris's", Mc Guiganns, Peter Mallon (Mad Monk), etc....
I was back in Newry 4 years ago and it still has that special 'feeling'. I live and work in Sydney, Australia. Hoping to retire in the next 5 years, ending up in Newry. My sister Margaret visits regularly. Take care,
Pat

For John Gordon,
I can't help with the names but the quarry owners according to George Henry Bassett's 1886 Co Down directory were,Robert Baird A F Campbell, Jas Toman all in Bailinacraig presumably the quarries around Courtney Hill and Windmill Road.Samuel Cooper Derrylecagh, P Finnegan Glenville, J Mc Collough & Sons Croreagh these may be personal rather than business addresses. Jos Weir Cloughenramer and finally Drumcashlone Granite Quarry was owned by J E Emerson who presumably had offices at Basin Walk as that address appears in the directory.

Just finished reading 'guestbook' and seen so many entries and some poeple i used to know. I lost touch with Charlie Ferris, as I stayed next door with Peggy at 34 Cecil Street. I obviously knew all your family and your mum and dad.
Austin, I hope all's well in your part of the world. Please keep in touch. I am a long way away in Oz and it is great to read this web site and make me feel at home.
