Newry Film Club
'The Age of Stupid' will have its world premiere in London on Sunday 6pm March 15th 2009 and simultaneous launch at 64 different cinemas across the U.K. In Northern Ireland Newry Film Club and Fermanagh Film Club are selected to this exclusive premiere screening also on Sunday 6pm March 15th.
According to NASA scientist and climate expert Jim Hansen we have four years to halt irreversible climate change and the devastating threat poses to the Earth and to every living thing on it.
Both a cautionary tale and a call to arms, The Age of Stupid presents a future 50 years from now where vast swathes of the globe are rendered uninhabitable by global warming and the entire output of human civilisation is stored in a hi-tech archive, looked after by a mysterious archivist (Pete Postlethwaite).
This is no science fiction, however, but science fact very much grounded in the here and now. Using contemporary documentary footage we are shown the true impact of our relentless consumerism and reckless greed; if we really care about the planet we live on we have all got to stop being stupid – right here, right now...

Kevin Kerr, I remember The Bit N Bridle it was always the best spot to be in Newry when there was a school dance going on. I was around 15-16 and use to drink in Mick Murphys on Mary St. it and Magees where the only places boys of our age could get served in. When we would try to drink in the Bit you could always feel the burning eyes of Mr Mc Govern, as soon as he got your attention he would question you on how old( mean while he new rightly) you where, and that was it out the door
