Message: Hi.
I'm looking for details of the early life/family of Dr. John Weir, a native of Newry, who was buried at Amherst Cemetery, Victoria, Australia, in 1859 aged 31 and unmarried.
His death certificate gives his parents as John (a farmer) & Mary. He studied medicine in Glasgow.
The cemetery volunteers would like to find out more about his family. Can anyone help please?

Hi. Love the page. I worked in various pubs in Newry in the early 60s and moved to England 1964. I lived in digs in John Martin Gdns with my Aunt & Uncle Rose & Paddy Kinney, late of Derrybeg Drive. I know most of the people mentioned in Derrybeg Drive particularly the McCrums & Lindens. The pubs I worked in were Mallons & Barney Hughes' in Monaghan St & also The Waldorf on the corner of Hill St & Mill St, and last of all in Cosgroves. Oh and I also worked in G. Hosford & Sons Garage on the petrol pumps & odd jobs. Can anyone remember Ned (can't remember his surname, maybe Mullins?) who also worked there and was a full-time milkman?

Hi searching for information on a Great Uncle of mine who worked for the post office and was from Newry. He died in mysterious circumstance I think in the 1930;s. His name was Dan McCoy and was married to my great aunt Margaret Marron. Her family owned a boarding house/hotel in Bundoran. All information gratefully received.
