We older folk search for continuity in an ever-changing world!

Tonight I will play Bridge with Margaret Rowland whose husband was partner in Rowland & Harris Motors of Railway Avenue. We presume this was the same family of the Hill Street Agents ninety years ago.

We all recall Hutchinson’s Cycles of William Street.

Why even the street is almost gone today.

As to the fowl dealers, we remember Eddie McAteer, and of course Sean. And Paddy Murphy’s of Abbey Yard, thankfully still trading. The current Paddy has a message-boy’s bike hung on one wall. I always intend to photograph it. I will soon!

That F Spence could be grandfather to my near neighbours Louis and Geraldine.  I’m just not sure!
