I
was reading Tommy Fegan’s column in today’s Reporter (The Pure Drop – highly
recommended) when I suddenly came across a touching reference to Stefoin
Loughran, who you may know was recently brutally stabbed to death in Derrybeg Park.

Only
then did I realise I was acquainted with the victim (photo here). Stevie had been the backbone of the
highly-acclaimed session in the Railway Bar that I have so often commended on
this site.
I
will quote Tommy’s words:
Stevie
was an affable, friendly and welcoming character who always enjoyed greeting
new musicians to the sessions.
He
will be sorely missed, and musicians and patrons alike extend their sincere
condolences to his grieving family.’
I
would like to add my great personal regret.
