This year is widely celebrated as the 400th Anniversary of the Flight of the Earls, an event in history which marked the final end of the gaelic clan system. We are privileged in Newry to have the most eminent historian of the time, Dr John McCavitt living and working among us.
 John teaches history at the Abbey Grammar. Now after the very successful launch of his latest book on the subject (see poster above) in our capital last week, the Principal of the Abbey has agreed to host the local launch on Wednesday of this week.
There is an open invitation to attend and you are encouraged to do so at 7.30pm. This is the authoratative work on the period and on the subject.
