Patrick,
above, converted to Protestantism and emigrated to Calcutta in 1843. There, when the Great Hunger struck Ireland, he
collected a sizable amount of money and sent it home for the relief of the
destitute.
He
married Frances, daughter of Thomas Smyth of The Fence, Yorkshire. She died in November 1810 aged just 34
years. He left issue:
1 Hugh Marmaduke, B.L. who died 8 June
1844
2 Pringle, Captain in the 1st Bengal Cavalry
3 Edward, Lieutenant in the Bengal
Artillery who died of wounds received in the Burmese War on 15 December 1824,
aged just 21 years
4 Sarah, who on 22 July 1804 married Ensign William Alexander
of the Second Reserve.
