I have had a few friends recently enquire about this long demolished street in town.  The lady in the picture below may have been going home that day in 1953 - or perhaps taking a short-cut to Hill Street through the Cathedral grounds.

The arched entrance is visible in the near-ground and there was a little 'sweet shop' half-way down, about where the lady is passing.

On the other side of the graffeti-spoiled wall on the left and within the Cathedral, there once was a school.  I think it might have been the Christian Brothers.

Can anybody help here ?
