Newry Film Club: New Season

Newry Film Club’s new season of films for 2011-12 begins on Wednesday 5th October in Newry Arts Centre with the thriller ‘Unknown’ starring Liam Neeson. We are starting at the earlier time of 7.30pm …


… to allow time afterwards for discussion of the film (between 9.15 and 10.00pm approx). Pat Courtney has agreed to keep the bar open so people can have a drink while discussing the film.

We are also trying out something new this year by showcasing local talent in the film industry. On our opening night on 5th October at 7.00pm local Film Director Ally McKensie will be giving a brief talk and showing two of his ‘award winning’ short films, ‘Buck Fury’ and ‘Breadwinner’, before the main feature. This is something we are hoping to do throughout the rest of the 2011-12 season. So why not come along a little bit earlier to support our local up-and-coming talent and see three films for the price of one.
