Creggan Church & Graveyard

On the banks of the River Creggan overlooking the rolling green hills of South Armagh stands Church of Ireland Creggan Church and graveyard. This is now a listed historical building and the grounds are surrounded by an ancient stone wall: her old gravestones stand in stark contrast to the modern housing estate just beyond those walls.

O’Neill Vault

For many years the exact position of the O’Neill Vault was a subject of speculation.

It was known that c. 1820 the Rev Rector Charles Atkinson decided to brick up the doorway of the Vault.

Faughart

Faughart, a parish in the barony of Upper Dundalk had in the late 1860s a total population of 1,640 souls. The parish is probably named after an ancient fort located on an elevated site in the area.
