With deep sadness but also with many fond memories, I record the passing of a great childhood companion Brian Hayes, formerly of Killeavey Road.

Brian’s funeral Mass is this morning in Sligo and his remains will be interred in St Mary’s Cemetery this afternoon at 3.00 pm.

Brian was the only one of my childhood Meadow companions to make it to Queens with me in the late 1960s.  He was enormously popular there – as everywhere.  He features in many of my Meadow Memories – anonymously – as I had no recent contact with him to get his permission to use his name.

Brian suffered – most bravely – from cancer for many years prior to his demise.

"Would those who think on him today, A little prayer to Jesus say".
