Rainbow Girl

A crisp autumn morning echoes loudly

As young voices celebrate mid-term release

Heaps of leaves capture every corner

Every nook and cranny of the Municipal Park.

A calm, rain-free day erupts

With a smile from the rainbow girl

Her face beams loudly, cracking

Twigs on lazy trees

A radiant glow invades the park

A tender torch to light the dark.

Colourful clouds flow

From her scorching hands

Melted by the visiting sun

Beneath blistered shadows

Which paint invisible arches

For our heads to pass under.

If the world crowds my shoulders

Even if planets collide

I will weather storms

Sail every ocean, to find

My rainbow girl.
