Midnight Mass at St Catherine’s (Dominican) Church in Newry this year of 2010 will prove to be very special indeed.
The Prior through his organist supreme Paul O’Hanlon has been fortunate to commission the services for the evening of a wonderful Guest Soprano in the person of Rebekah Coffey of Newtownards. Rebekah will enhance the performance of what is already accepted as a wonderful Church Choir.
Last year Rebekah’s performance at the Last Night of the Proms was televised live, and patrons of Newry Chamber Music will remember her recital at David & Joanne Quigley’s Christmas Concert just last year.
This little lady with the big voice will be a pleasure to savour in the acoustically excellent ambience of St. Catherine’s. Midnight Mass as always, in St Catherine’s, starts at Midnight, but the music starts much earlier, at 11.10 pm.
Be sure to arrive before 11.10 if you wish to avail of a seat, and then relax in a beautiful church enjoying fifty minutes of music and carols before the Mass proper begins.
